Coupling non-local rheology and volume of fluid (VOF) method: a finite volume method (FVM) implementation

چکیده
Additional to a behavior switching between solid-like and liquid-like, dense granular flows also present propagating grain size-dependent effects called non-local effects. Such behaviors cannot be efficiently modeled by standard rheologies such as µ( I )-rheology but have dealt with advanced models. Unfortunately, these models are still new used easily nor for various configurations. We propose in this work FVM implementation of the recently popular NGF model coupled VOF method order both make modeling more accessible everyone suitable not only single-phase two-phase flows. The proposed has advantage extremely straightforward require supplementary stabilization loop compared theoretical equations. then applied our framework single validation.

متن کاملVolume of Fluid (VOF) Method for the Dynamics of Free Boundaries*
Several methods have been previously used to approximate free boundaries in tinitedifference numerical simulations. A simple, but powerful, method is described that is based on the concept of a fractional volume of fluid (VOF). This method is shown to be more flexible and efftcient than other methods for treating complicated free boundary configurations. To illustrate the method, a description ...
متن کاملParallel implementation of finite volume based method for isoelectric focusing
A message passing interface (MPI) based parallel simulation algorithm is developed to simulate protein behavior in non-linear isoelectric focusing (IEF). The mathematical model of IEF is formulated based on mass conservation, charge conservation, ionic dissociation-association relations of amphoteric molecules and the electroneutrality condition. First, the concept of parallelism is described f...
متن کاملDamage Detection in Beam-like Structures using Finite Volume Method
In this paper the damage location in beam like-structure is determined using static and dynamic data obtained using finite volume method. The change of static and dynamic displacement due to damage is used to establish an indicator for determining the damage location. In order to assess the robustness of the proposed method for structural damage detection, three test examples including a static...
